A lawyer asks Jesus where the line is: who exactly counts as my neighbour? Jesus answers with a story. A priest and a Levite see the wounded man and walk on. A Samaritan, the outsider, crosses the road and lets what he sees change what he does. Instead of naming who qualifies, Jesus asks which man became a neighbour. The Kingdom is often hidden in something ordinary, lying beside the road we are hurrying down. We can cross that road because Christ crossed it first for us. Go and do likewise.

Jesus tells of two sons and only one of them looks lost. The younger demands his inheritance and wastes it, then returns expecting to be hired as a servant. His father runs to meet him and restores him as a son. The older brother stayed home, worked faithfully, and still ended up outside the celebration, keeping score. Both were far from the Father’s heart, and the Father went out after each one. Grace is always a gift. Wherever you find yourself today, He still wants you near.

Jesus tells of a shepherd who leaves ninety-nine sheep to search for one that wandered, and that one is the whole point. In Luke 15 and John 10, we meet a God who sees the person the crowd overlooks, pursues the lost rather than waiting for them to find their own way, and carries them home with joy rather than reproach. The Good Shepherd knows His sheep by name and lays down His life for them. You are not invisible to God. He sees you, and He is still asking: who is your one?
